Overview

Shortwave Log provides logging, radio control, chat, and recording functionality in a single suite.  Shortwave Log is also one of the oldest logging programs in existence, having been created in 1990.

While initially designed for shortwave and mediumwave listening, the program is quite adept for listening to other modes such as longwave, utility, or amateur radio.  New amateur radio functionality, including upload and download support for eQSL.cc  has recently been added.

The logging features of the program are extensive.  When adding a log to the logbook, Shortwave Log will search multiple databases to find matches, making it very easy to identify stations.

In addition to traditional logging features, the Radio Control Server component allows a receiver to be controlled over a home network or the Internet.  With the installation of the RCSweb interface, a receiver can be controlled from anywhere via a web page.

Integrated Web Receiver Control

Radio Control Server provides control via TCP/IP, allowing the receiver to be controlled across a home network, a local network, or from anywhere in the world via the Internet.  The RCSWeb Interface module provides a web front-end for the server, allowing access to the receiver with only a web browser.  A receiver can be published on the web and streaming audio in only minutes.

In addition to working with RCSweb, Radio Control Server also seamlessly integrates with RemoteHams.com, allowing for either the RCSweb or the RemoteHams web interface to be used.

Unparalleled Database Support

Identifying a transmission has never been easier.  With support for fourteen external databases, the Community logs, and previous log entries, it is easy to identify transmissions.

Receiver Support

Radio Control Server (RCS) has native support for over thirty receivers.  Plus the program can interface with the popular Ham Radio Deluxe program allowing any recevier that works with Ham Radio Deluxe to seamlessly integrate with RCS.  All receivers are network-enabled and can be controlled over a network or the Internet with native tools or with a web page.  The following receivers work with RCS:

Forty-five Distinct Reports

With forty-five distinct reports, the logbook can be queried and analyzed in many ways.

Worldwide Use of Shortwave Log

The following map shows Shortwave Log users from all over the world.  To add your location to the map, click here.

Klingenfuss Integration
Shortwave Log and the Radio Control Server integrate with the Klingenfuss Super Frequency list.  When a record is copied from the Klingenfuss list, the radio will automatically tune and the data can be inserted into a new log.

A Global Community of Shortwave Listeners
The Shortwave Log Community is a global, realtime logbook where listeners can upload their logs and view the logs of others.  These logs can then be used in real-time to help identify stations.  View the latest logs.

Review Shortwave Log at eHam.net.
eHam.net is a web site dedicated to amateur and shortwave topics. People can write reviews on radios, antennas, and software. To review Shortwave Log, just click here.

Display the Transmitter Location and Distance
When adding a log, Shortwave Log will automatically plot the transmitter location and calculate the distance of the transmitter from the current listening post.

DX Club Support
Custom reports provide for easy, automatic submission to the following clubs:
* Australian DX News
* Benelux DX Club
* National Radio Club
* NASWA
* Ontario DX Assn.

Manage Reception Reports
Management and tracking of reception reports is integrated into the program.  QSL cards can be directly scanned from within Shortwave Log.  A web page to display all the QSL cards with can be automatically created.

Propagation Prediction
Are the conditions right for that dream DX catch from the other side of the earth?   Calculate MUF and LUF from a remote transmitter to your listening post or any other location.

What's Playing Now
While many programs can display the current transmissions from just the ILGRadio database, SWLog can display all current transmissions from ADDX, AOKI, DRM, EIBI, FCC HF Seasonal, HFCC, IOCHAM, PTSW, and SWBC.  These transmissions plotted onto a world map, which allows for instant tuning simply by clicking on the map.

RemoteHams Integration
RemoteHams.com is a great web site that provides web-based control for any receiver that is running Shortwave Log and the Radio Control Server or Ham Radio Deluxe.  RemoteHams.com provides a web front end for the receiver and communicates directly with the Radio Control Server.  More features linking the Radio Control Server and RemoteHams.com are coming soon!
